Contract & Project Staffing

Rapid deployment of vetted contractors and project teams for surge demand.

Day-rate engagements for surge capacity, capability gaps and short-cycle mandates. Vetted contractors mobilised in days, with compliance, payroll and contracting handled end-to-end by AEY. No long-term overhead, no permanent commitment, full delivery accountability.

Best for
  • Programme spikes - additional capacity for a defined window
  • Specialist capability the firm needs once or twice a year, not permanently
  • Coverage during a permanent search that is taking longer than expected
  • Short-cycle delivery work where flexibility outweighs permanence
  • Federal and large-enterprise programmes that fund contract roles
Not for
  • Roles that should be permanent but are being contracted for budget-line reasons - speak to us first
  • Long-term contractor relationships that have become de facto permanent - talk to us about converting
  • Single-project work better served by an agency or consultancy

What this looks like in practice

A common engagement: a federal-government delivery programme needs three additional Senior Business Analysts for a six-month integration phase. We supply three pre-vetted contractors within ten business days, manage all contracting and payroll for the duration, and roll the engagement on a monthly cadence with the client deciding whether to extend each cycle.

Another shape: a defence-technology firm has a permanent FPGA engineering search running that will take twelve weeks to close, and needs immediate capacity. We supply a senior contractor for the gap, transition to the permanent hire on arrival, and unwind the contract engagement cleanly.

Engagement timeline

  1. 01 Brief & Scope Day 1
  2. 02 Match from Pre-Vetted Bench Days 1-3
  3. 03 Introduction & Acceptance Days 3-5
  4. 04 Contracting & Onboarding Days 5-7
  5. 05 Engagement Live Week 2+
  6. 06 Check-ins & Rollover Decisions Every 4 weeks

Frequently asked

Why use AEY for contract rather than a generic body-shop? +
Because we apply the same assessment standard to contractors as to permanent placements. Most body-shops compete on speed and rate; we compete on the quality of the work that gets delivered. The day-rate is comparable; the outcome is materially different.
Do you keep a pre-vetted bench? +
Yes, in the sectors where contract demand is steady - Project Services and BA / PM / PMO most prominently. For technical contract roles in defence, engineering and AI we move faster than 'bench' implies but slower than a body-shop; we vet for each engagement.
What about compliance and payroll? +
Handled end-to-end by AEY. The client receives a single invoice; the contractor is engaged through AEY's contracting structure. Tax, super, insurances and any sector-specific compliance (e.g. defence clearance management) are managed by us.
Can you convert a contractor to permanent? +
Yes. Conversion terms are agreed up-front in the original engagement letter - typically a stepped conversion fee that reduces with months served. Most contract-to-perm conversions we run cost less than a fresh permanent placement fee.
