Senior technical account management role for a Sydney-based electronics contract manufacturer serving MedTech, Aerospace and Defence. Combines commercial ownership of strategic accounts with technical engagement across the manufacturing lifecycle - briefing, NPI, production and post-launch.
About the role
A senior account-management role inside a Sydney-based electronics contract manufacturer with a long operating history, currently in a sustained growth phase. The firm services MedTech, Aerospace and Defence customers and needs a Technical Account Manager who can hold both the commercial relationship and the technical conversation - across briefing, NPI, production and quality.
This is a primary client interface role with influence over how engineering, production and procurement engage with customers, and direct ownership of sales and margin targets across the portfolio.

Three stages: initial commercial interview with senior leadership, technical conversation with engineering and production leads, and a final conversation with the GM or commercial director.
Responsibilities
- ▸ Own and develop strategic customer accounts as the primary commercial and technical contact.
- ▸ Lead client engagement from initial brief through to ongoing production.
- ▸ Achieve sales and margin targets across the account portfolio.
- ▸ Manage forecasts, pipelines and CRM-based reporting.
- ▸ Translate client requirements into clear briefs for engineering, production and quality teams.
- ▸ Coordinate purchase orders with material ordering and production scheduling.
- ▸ Identify and convert growth opportunities within existing accounts.
- ▸ Represent the firm at industry events and senior stakeholder engagements.
Requirements
- ▸ 5+ years' experience in account management or technical sales within manufacturing or engineering.
- ▸ Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or a related discipline.
- ▸ Strong commercial and technical communication; comfortable at engineering and senior-stakeholder level.
- ▸ Demonstrated ability to manage clients through complex product lifecycles.
- ▸ Working knowledge of manufacturing processes; PCB / electronics assembly background highly regarded.
- ▸ Track record of growing strategic accounts and converting NPI opportunities into sustained revenue.
- ▸ Excellent organisational discipline; comfortable holding multiple priorities in a production-driven environment.
Bonus
- ▸ Direct electronics contract-manufacturing background (PCBA, EMS).
- ▸ Experience in regulated industries - MedTech, Aerospace or Defence.
- ▸ Hands-on familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
- ▸ Prior P&L or margin-management exposure.
